JIRA MCP Server

A Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that addresses integration with self-hosted JIRA, enabling AI assistants to interact with JIRA issues and projects through a standardized interface.

Get list of JIRA projects
Query JIRA tasks using JQL
Get task details
Update task status
Update task assignee
Get available task statuses
Get task attachments

Installation

Clone the repository
Install dependencies:

npm install

Configure environment variables by copying .env.example to .env:

cp .env.example .env

Update the .env file with your JIRA credentials:

JIRA_HOST=your.jira.host
JIRA_USERNAME=yourname
JIRA_PASSWORD=yourpassword
# Or use access token authentication:
# JIRA_ACCESS_TOKEN=yourtoken

Usage

Start the MCP server:

npm start

The server will start and register itself with any MCP-compatible AI assistants.
