TikTok MCP Server for Claude

This project provides a TikTok hashtag scraper that can be used with Claude AI through the Machine Comprehension Protocol (MCP).

Quick Start

The easiest way to start is to use the provided startup script:

./start_claude_with_tiktok.sh

This script will:

1. Set up the necessary environment
2. Start the TikTok MCP server in the background
3. Launch Claude (on macOS) or provide instructions for launching it
4. Keep running so you can easily stop the server with Ctrl+C

To stop the server manually, you can use:

./stop_tiktok_server.sh

Available Tools in Claude

When connected, Claude will have access to the following tools:

1. search_tiktok_hashtag - Search TikTok for videos with a specific hashtag
2. get_tiktok_video_details - Get details about a specific TikTok video
3. get_recent_tiktok_searches - Get a list of recent TikTok hashtag searches

Technical Details

This server uses a custom wrapper to ensure proper handling of stdout/stderr, which prevents JSON errors when communicating with Claude. The server runs using either:

• FastMCP (preferred) - Anthropic's recommended MCP implementation
• Standalone WebSocket server - A backup implementation that doesn't require the mcp package

Troubleshooting

If you see JSON parsing errors in Claude:

1. Make sure to stop any existing server instances:

   ./stop_tiktok_server.sh
   

2. Start fresh with the provided script:

   ./start_claude_with_tiktok.sh
   

3. Check the logs in the logs/ directory for any error messages
